On the 19th of April 2010 in the session hall of NAS RA an international symposium took place on "Armenian genocide, recognition, condemnation, indemnity", dedicated to the 95th anniversary of Armenian genocide.
After the speech of Ashot Melkonyan (the head of NAS RA Institute of History),the dean of the Faculty of History of YSU, Doctor of History, Professor Edik Minasyan presented his report ("The peculiarities of the new stage of international recognition of the Armenian genocide"). E. Minasyan touched upon the problems of the international recognition of the prehistory of the Armenian genocide and introduced contemporary developments of the process.
Then Jorg Berlin (Adrian Klenner) ("The genocide of the Cilician Armenians in 1909 in Ottoman and German sources. The response of Ottoman Empire") and Rolf Hosveld ("Operation Nemesis") invited from Germany presented their reports.
During the symposium various problems were discussed concerning the Armenian genocide.
These problems concerned the prehistory of the Armenian genocide, the existence of new facts, international recognition, elimination of the consequences of the genocide, the problems of the representation of the issue on web-sites.
As a conclusion all the participants of the symposium hoped that this great tragedy of the Armenians will at last be condemned by the world and will have a fair solution.
